Justin Cauntay, D.O.
Justin Cauntay, Osteopathic Physician and Family Practitioner, joins Hill Park Medical Center as a specialist in a broad range of non-surgical and natural treatments for pain.
He is a graduate of Touro University of Osteopathic Medicine and the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Family Medicine Residency in Santa Rosa. Prior to medical school, Dr. Cauntay had 15 years of experience in body-oriented therapies, including a private massage practice, specializing in the use of trigger point therapy and acupressure in the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal pain. He completed his undergraduate studies in Nutrition and Food Science at UC Berkeley and has worked as a Community Health Care Worker for the Berkeley Free Clinic, providing health care to the homeless and underserved. During his medical training, he specialized in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine as well as Family Practice and is completing Medical acupuncture training at the Stanford/ Helms Institute and prolotherapy at the University of Wisconsin.
While interested in the full spectrum of integrative medicine, his professional passion is to provide a broad range of non-surgical approaches to musculoskeletal pain that minimize dependence on opiates. He also has a particular interest in treating musculoskeletal pain stemming from pregnancy and delivery. His goal is to integrate the best that standard allopathic medicine can offer with clinically proven complementary methods such as osteopathic manipulation, acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, prolotherapy, trigger point therapy, mind-body techniques, and individualized nutrition and exercise programs.
Over a decade in the gentle martial art of Aikido has taught him efficiency of motion and energetic awareness which inform his approach to sports medicine. He lives in Sebastopol with his wife and children and enjoys practicing Aikido, surfing, and learning guitar.
