We’re now in uncharted territory in the aftermath of the North Bay wildfires, which have had inevitable toxic impact on our air, soil, and water quality.

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are dangerous hormone-modulating and potentially carcinogenic toxins that can remain residual in our environment for weeks to years. Here are some ways that you can improve your internal and environmental landscape to protect your health…

15% off peat baths to enhance your health in the New Year!

Peat is said to be a living pharmacy derived from hundreds of plants accumulated over thousands of years. Peat is a substance obtained from bogs on low or highland moors and has been used extensively as a medicinal preparation in baths and as topical packs in Europe for centuries.

Medicinal peat is not quite the same as peat moss, the matter we use in gardening. It is a natural product of thousands of years of plant decay. It has an unusual concentration of bio-minerals, trace elements, vitamins, amino acids, and fatty acids in a molecular form that is easy for the skin to absorb.

Food is Medicine: Golden Cauliflower Soup with Seared Wild Mushrooms

Posted on 9 January 2018 | Comments Off on Food is Medicine: Golden Cauliflower Soup with Seared Wild Mushrooms

by Dr. Denise Cooluris, ND

The first time I made this soup I was really lucky – it came together beautifully. Perhaps because it was the end of a cozy Sunday where I could lose myself in cooking and not overthink the process much. I happened to have all of the ingredients at hand and rather thoughtlessly moved through the motions of the recipe and was delighted with the nourishing and complex flavors at the end of the process. After such fortune, I was hooked. To me, that is one of the greatest delights of cooking – allowing the art of connection with nutrient rich foods and some simple technique to combine seamlessly into a nourishing meal.

This soup is really lovely on its own, but the nutty mushroom flavor and oceanic bite to the pistachio blend really elevate it to a great experience. Click through for the full recipe and some additional tips.

Vaccine Health Evaluation

by Dr. Richard Chen, MD

I recognize the complexity and difficulty involved in the decision of vaccinations and therefore encourage
parents to carefully consider many factors during this process. Currently, the decision regarding vaccines
has been made a government decision – a legal decision. I aim to support parents and individuals to have
the information necessary to aide in the medical decision regarding vaccines based on a personalized
health assessment.

When examining if a potential medical risk of vaccine exposure exists, I collect a comprehensive history
of health issues including any known vaccine reactions to date, allergies, known illness, (neurological,
autoimmune, and others) and family history of illnesses. Read more about how Dr. Chen can help you make an informed medical decision about vaccines.
