Richard Chen, M.D.
Dr. Richard Chen has 25 years experience as a family physician. He received his MD with honors from Albany Medical College, has studied functional medicine extensively, and is certified as a Functional Medicine physician. A love of learning and professional growth has led him to study with leading experts in bioidentical hormone therapy and genetics.
Dr. Chen’s specialties include acupuncture, homeopathy, allergy desensitization using Sublingual Immunotherapy Treatment (SLIT), nutrigenomic genetics, MTHFR gene mutation, and prolotherapy using ozone treatment for tissue injuries. His focused interests include complex illness, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Lyme disease, digestive health, tick-borne illness, chronic fatigue, and mold exposure illness. He uses traditional and alternative medicine, including nutrition, lifestyle, vitamin therapy, acupuncture, and ozone injections.
Dr. Chen treats the mineral and neurotransmitter problems that can cause mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity and mood swings using the Walsh protocol. Simple vitamins, minerals, and supplements such as Zinc, SAMe, Vitamin B6, etc. are used to correct the mind in a natural way without the side effects of medications.
With his patients, Dr. Chen seeks to identify the sources of illness and listens to their stories in depth. He is passionate about seeing his patients recover from chronic illness to achieve optimal health. He enjoys the diversity of patients and health concerns that come with family practice.
